Stiegl Beer is a symbol of Salzburg city, and its well embedded in its history. Stiegl's brewery restaurant is located in the heart of Salzburg, next to the stairs up to the Fortress "Festung Hohensalzburg" - Stiegl means stairs in English. By 1650 Stiegl was already Salzburg's biggest brewery, and it's quite possible that Mozart enjoyed this beer with his friends in the 1780s.
