Schnapps, dinner and Netflix; the ingredients for a great night in

A good night is stereotyped as an occasion where you go with your friends to an establishment and spend money on drinks (butterscotch schnapps anyone?). Lots of them. A number that warrants you avoiding a glance at your bank balance the next day. But have you considered a way to meet up with friends without costing you the whole bar? We have the ingredients you need for your next night in.

Set the date

When was the last time you and your friends got together and actually had a good time, without loud bar music involved? No more excuses; text them and plan the get together a week from now. Make a Facebook event out of it so everyone is up to date and it’s in their calendars.

Plan the menu

Ask everyone to contribute something to the party because picky eaters exist. But you can take care of the drinks, thanks to the German liquor in your cupboard. Beer for the blokes, cocktails for the ladies, and schnapps to meet everyone in the middle.

If you’re stuck for ideas on food, here’s some suggestions that please a crowd. You can assign them to your friends so everyone brings something different.

The Great Night In

Charcuterie board

Fruit platters

Dips and vegetables (Carrot and celery sticks, hummus, tzatziki, avocado dips, etc)

Tomato and mozzarella skewers

Mains to please a crowd

Greek Salad

Roast Vegetables

Spinach and Feta Pie

Roast Chicken

Chocolate Brownies

Lemon Tart

Ice Cream

Scheibels Schnapps shots

Oberkircher Pinot Gris and Red Wine

Maisel’s Dunkel Wheat Beer

Of course not all friend’s nights in have to be a three course meal affair. If Netflix (or Apple TV) is more your thing get the schnapps and your cocktail shaker, some popcorn and the dessert. You’re adults, dessert before dinner is allowed!
